My MA graduation work wasn’t an illustration of solidarity, but practice. I had some space and basic organizing skills, and I wanted to put these to work by fundraising for a few organizations that support Palestinians.
Since I couldn’t do this alone, I initiated an Open Call for contributions that came to life during the KABK Graduation Show. I collected clothes, prints—photo and otherwise—zines, publications, designs for screen printing, performances, ceramics… the sky was the limit.
My thesis entitled "Standing. Photographing. Sitting. Filming. Organizing. Screenshotting. Resharing. In Solidarity. Or how to block a highway for climate justice, and report police violence without a follow-up. Occupy a building for justice. And shake up art educational institutions for Palestine. Together.", was designed by Andreea Peterfi and was on sale during Grad.
All funds raised were donated to The Arab Fund For Arts and Culture, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and the European Legal Support Center.
This initiative was part of a collective exhibition alongside twelve other image-makers at the Photography & Society graduation exhibition. "I Wonder How It Lands" was on view from June 27 to July 2, 2024, at Bleijenburg 38, The Hague.
